Mid-seventeenth century fire gilt silver standing reliquary with enamelled plaques. Fully marked with the Town mark of Mexico City and also dated on the base 1632. The silver base had originally eight enamel plaques / one is missing /  now with seven.These types of plaques are typical of South American silver of the mid-seventeenth century. The base is engraved “DIO ELPALO DESTA CRUZ DEA GUATULCO DONA ANDREA DE CI S NEROS y TOBAR ANO DE 1632"

Mexico City was the administrative capital of the Spanish Colonial Court in Central America  and from early on silver manufacturing developped to supply the newly founded churches in the area.  Extremely rare survivor.

Measurements : Hight 38 cm.   weight : 1548 gram. / The weight includes the glass panels of the four sided pyramid but the weight of this cannot be more than 100 gram /
